The Cure
The pale blond man approached the huddled mass carefully. He knew there was a price on his head and if this was a trap then he was as good as caught… unless he decided to feed on it to cover his presence. He stopped and wondered if he should just turn and walk away from the sobbing creature, however, since Potter had spared him after the Dark Lord's fall he was somewhat confused about what to do. Miriam would have told him to see if he could ease the creature's suffering.
He knelt in the dirt, studying the bundle and thought about all that had happened in the past two years. Voldemort had not been happy to find out that the younger Malfoy had not been able to complete his task. Draco had been given to the vampires while Snape had just been beaten and then allowed to continue his activities. He had, at least, gotten the job done.
One vampire had finally taken pity on Draco after he had been used as a feast by several vampires and left for dead. The woman had taken the nearly drained young man to her home and gently cleansed his worn and abused body. He had begged her for release from the pain and misery but she had just shaken her head and told him that Dumbledore had helped her once as well and she would return the favour.
The woman had nursed him back to health, taken care of him almost like a mother. Never before had someone treated him with a firm yet gentle hand. He found himself falling for the woman as she cared for him.
He went to her one evening and climbed in the bed with her as he had often done before but instead of just cuddling next to her he kissed her softly and looked down into her red rimmed eyes as she woke for the night.
Miriam had searched his face and nodded. She taught him the ways of the bedroom that night and changed him before leaving him the next evening with nothing but a note. He had returned to the Wizarding World to find Potter had defeated the Dark Lord and his family was no more.
He had kept to the night, hiding until Potter had found him one evening while he had been looking for Snape. The boy saviour had taken one look at him and shaken his head then left Malfoy alone without looking back. He supposed he should have been grateful but after Miriam had left there was little that made Draco happy anymore.
He shook his head when the quiet had brought him out of his ruminations. Had the creature passed while he debated on what to do. It seemed he was forever doomed to repeat a moments hesitation. He stood and walked over to the bundle and pulled back the woollen cloak then gasped.
Hermione Granger lay as if sleeping, face dirty and hair matted with grime. He could still hear her heartbeat and it called to him. He had yet to feed tonight and although Miriam had changed his views on several issues the fact remained that she was still just a … Mudblood… a powerful, knowledgeable one but one nonetheless.
He sighed. Feeding from magical creatures always gave a more fulfilling meal but only if he could get over his aversion to her status. He grinned maliciously as she started to stir, his fangs peeking out over his lips. Fear always made them taste better.
She groaned, opened her chocolate brown eyes and screamed. She began scrambling away from him and trying to find her wand in her robes at the same time.
Draco rolled his eyes and held up the cloak carefully picking through the pockets and plucking the slim piece of wood from the interior. He held it aloft and she hung her head.
"Please make it quick," she said softly.
Draco sneered at her. "Why would I do that? When have I ever made it easy on you… Miss know-it-all." He had been tempted to call her Mudblood but couldn't bring himself to say the word aloud. He cursed himself silently for being weak but in his mind's eye he could see Miriam smiling at him.
She looked up at him, eyes filled with tears and blinking. Shock was plainly written on her dirty face and she looked away from him once more. "Harry told me you didn't have it in you to harm someone in need but I didn't believe him."
Draco rolled his eyes once more and knelt down next to her. "What are you doing out here? Surely Potter and the Weasel wouldn't leave you all by your lonesome. Has the Golden Trio had a fall out?"
She shook her head and moved back her robes from her legs to reveal her feet. "I've been cursed and didn't want to infect anyone else when I couldn't find a cure. I told no one I was leaving."
Draco leaned over to look at her. The small appendages were greying and he reached out to touch the even, pretty, polished toes. They were ice cold even to him and he shivered as he watched the grey move across the end of her foot and over take the smallest pinkie toe, draining the peach colour from her skin.
"Is there still feeling in that area?" He asked softly and looked back at her face.
Hermione nodded. "Yes, but I think it's draining my magic from me. I ache there as if my toes are numb but I can still feel them. Rather like they've fallen asleep."
Draco nodded and scooped her up. "Well, I suppose I had better drain you before it leaves totally."
Hermione's eyes rolled up in her head and she went limp in his arms. Draco shook his head and took her back to his home to return the favour to the woman as Miriam had done for him. Maybe one of the books in the vampire's vast library could help her.

Hermione woke as the sunlight streamed in a window and she sat up quickly, looking around the room she was in. She looked down at herself and gasped.
The robes she had been wearing last night were gone and she had a simple shift of white on. Her hair was loose and clean as well. She pulled back the blankets to still find the strange colour still creeping up her body, her feet over half grey now, and she hung her head. Never in all her time at Hogwarts and helping Harry research ways to destroy the Horcruxes had she come across a spell like this.
The door opened and a small house elf peered in the room. The creature squealed and flung the door open. "Mistress has wakened!"
Hermione shrank away from the creature as the clothed elf came towards her with a piece of parchment in its hand. "Master Draco left a note for yous. Missy is to feed yous and not let yous leave. Yous can roam the house and library but not the cellar."
Intrigued by the clothed elf and the note, Hermione took the missive and read over Draco's slanted scrawl.
Granger,
Missy is at your service to provide you with anything you need... within reason. Please do not get rid of her as I have given her clothes and she still refuses to leave. She is my only daytime contact.
The library is quite extensive and I hope that you may find something there that will be of use to you. For your own safety do not leave the grounds, the wards will stun you and then I will have to cart you back into the house once more. Do not make me do so.
Stay out of the cellar.
Malfoy.
Hermione wrinkled her nose and gingerly got out of bed. She walked past the elf and opened the armoire. Inside many beautiful robes hung in plastic bags as if they were waiting for her use. She pulled one off the rack and was shocked to find that it was her size. She looked down at the elf who grinned at her.
"Did Missy do right by Mistress? Mistress' robes were nasty and Master Draco wanted you to feel clean. He says clothes Missy and anything else she desires but not her wand."
Hermione nodded dumbly and then remembered what Malfoy had said the night before about draining her. She hung the robe back up and closed the doors to the armoire. Somehow she couldn't muster up the energy to be concerned any longer about what happened to her. She lay back on the bed and closed her eyes. Her magic was leaving her and she was a prisoner of a vampiric Malfoy. Could her day get any worse?
The elf tugged on her hand. "Missy has to feeds yous, Mistress."
"Mistress doesn't want to eat." Hermione snarled and jerked her hand away from the little creature. "You tell Master Draco that if he wants to eat me then that's fine but I'll not make it easier by fattening myself up. And I don't want his clothing either." She crossed her arms over her chest and glared at the elf.
Missy's eyes watered then her bottom lip trembled and Hermione watched with a growing sense of unease that the elf was going to punish itself like Dobby had once done.
"Oh no, please." Hermione cajoled as the elf burst into loud heart wrenching sobs and tears. "I'll eat I promise." She stood and straightened her gown.
The elf shook its head and cried even harder, the tears beginning to make a small puddle at its feet.
"Oh all right already, I'll even dress for dinner." Hermione stormed over the armoire and flung the doors open once more.
She pulled out a light blue robe and laid it out on the bed. Missy came over to her sniffling and wiping her face with a handkerchief.
"Missy is to help Mistress…" The elf blinked large watery blue eyes at the witch.
Hermione sighed and nodded allowing the elf to scramble up on the bed and help her change from the sleeping gown to the elegant robe.

After a light meal she adjured to the library and selected several books and sat down to read and hopefully find whatever curse she was afflicted with.
The library was where Draco had found her, stacks of books around her, head bowed over another. He nearly gasped as he realized how much she looked like Miriam. He hardened his heart and stalked into the room. "Well, have you found anything yet?"
Hermione jumped and shrieked, tossing her hands and notes into the air as Draco's voice startled her out of the book. "Merlin, I'll die of fright before I find a cure." She glared at him as she began to pick up the parchments.
He smirked. "Well if you frighten that easily, you'll at least taste better." His lips pulled back in a smile and his fangs lengthened as he took a step forward.
Hermione screamed again and fainted, falling to the floor in a heap. Draco shook his head. "Bloody Hell, I'll never get to eat at this rate. Not that I could now anyway."
The vampire picked up Hermione and set her down on the settee. Pulling his wand he summoned the throw and covered her up. Sighing he picked up her notes and began skimming over what she had written. Which he found, after about five minutes of scanning, was nothing. He himself couldn't remember ever seeing something like this before.
He went back over to the settee and looked down at the unconscious girl. He reached down and stroked back the fringe that had fallen over her face. The curls of brown hair felt extremely soft to him and he shook his head. Not Miriam, he reminded himself. He turned his back on her and walked away, waving his wand to begin replacing the books on the shelves.
Hermione opened one eye and watched him from the couch. She couldn't believe it but twice now Malfoy had threatened her and each time she had passed out, something she had taught herself to do, to get Fred and George to leave her alone after one of their pranks. Apparently it worked on other men as well.
She studied him as he worked and decided he'd grown up rather nicely. The change making his pale skin even whiter and his silvery hair like gossamer. She tried to remember what all the vampire's traits were.
"I can hear your heartbeat quickening and know you are awake." His voice came to her but he didn't turn around.
"I thought you were going to eat me." She continued to watch him, waiting for him to pounce on her.
The shoulders shrugged and he hung his head for a moment. "I can't be arsed to do it tonight. I'll drain you tomorrow."
Hermione chuckled. "A procrastinating vampire?"
She sat up and lifted the throw from herself, grimacing as she noticed the grey had leeched the colour completely from her feet and was now just past her ankles. She patted the settee cushion. "I'll let you feed from me if you promise to kill me out right. I can't abide losing my magic bit by bit." She held out a hand to him as he turned to look at her.
"You don't know what you are asking of me." He sneered at her and walked out of the room.
She followed him, pleading her case. "At least one of us can live."
He stopped and she ran right into him then backed away as he turned. He reached out and grabbed her shoulders and shook her. "I told you, you don't know what you are asking of me and I can't believe you would throw your life away on one such as I."
Hermione smiled softly and reached up to touch his pale cold cheek. "It's not exactly a hardship to be held by a good looking man for a short time."
Shocked he let go of her shoulders and shook his head. "I don't think so." He walked away from her once more.
"Is it because I am not a Pureblood? Is that why you are starving yourself?"
Draco stopped and turned back to her, sighing. "You don't understand."
Hermione walked forward and ran a hand down his face. "I understand human nature and vampires and know that feeding is sensual. I know you can't partake of anything else. I know you'll waste away if you don't feed."
He grabbed her hand and pressed his mouth to the slender wrist. He could feel the pulse beat steadily through his lips and he moaned softly. "You should run… I haven't feed in two days now." He licked the peach skin gently and sighed.
Hermione stepped closer to him. "I know that and am counting on it so you'll do the task right. End your suffering and mine," she said softly.
He wrapped his arm around her and lead her back to the sitting room. He sat her down on the settee and called Missy to bring her something to dine on first.
The elf returned with a simple meal of roasted beef and potatoes, green beans and a large pitcher of iced pumpkin juice. She looked from Draco to Hermione after floating the tray to the table. She bit her lip as Draco handed the plate to Hermione and watched her partake of the food, then left the room quietly.
Hermione kept her eyes on Draco as she ate wondering if she had done the right thing. She was truly frightened of living without her magic and she couldn't watch it slowly leave her body. She finished eating what she could and leaned back wiping her mouth with the serviette.
Draco took the plate from her lap and handed her the pumpkin juice, watching as her throat worked while she drank. When once again she finished, she looked at him smiling gently.
"You are stalling." she said softly.
Draco scowled at her. "Forgive me if I have a little trouble doing this. I've never fed from someone wanting to die."
He stood and began to pace the room. "I have no idea why I brought you here. I don't know what I was thinking."
Hermione went to him and pressed against him from behind. "Draco…" she murmured quietly. "please."
He turned, searching her face and nodded then led her back to the sofa. He sat and was surprised when she climbed into his lap, placing one hand on his shoulder to steady herself and wrapped the other around his back settling herself nicely in his arms.
She leaned her head to the side, exposing the long vein just under the surface of her neck. "Go on Draco, please."
Draco groaned and bent his face to her neck, nuzzling the silky skin. He looked up at her as if she were suddenly going to deny him the nourishment and got a nod of encouragement. He sighed and licked her gently, feeling the pulse under his tongue speed up with each swipe of his tongue.
When she moaned softly he grinned against her skin then sank his teeth into the reddened area on her throat.
Hermione gasped at the sharp pain when his teeth entered her and she tightened her fingers in his robes. She ran her hand up his back, stroking him gently. The other hand moved down his chest and around to the strong back getting closer to him.
Draco groaned as she wiggled and could feel the magic and blood in her filling him. He didn't need to kill her, just a little sip and she would pass out and never be the wiser. He pulled back from her slightly and licked at the puncture wounds.
Hermione seemed to have known what he was thinking because she ran her hands down his back again. "Don't stop." She moved over his lap again feeling how he had reacted to her blood.
She leaned back and looked at him. "Finish what you started, please."
When he looked to the floor she stood from his lap and drew the robes from her body and stood before him naked. "You can have me in all ways if you promise to finish it."
Draco looked up at her and gasped as she knelt and ran her hands over his thighs. He searched her face and shook his head in disbelief. "I can't. There hasn't been anyone in my bed since my maker."
Hermione smiled at him and moved her hands to his robes and began to undo the buttons that ran down the front, pausing now and again to look up and smile at him.
Draco watched her disrobe him, shocked into silence and inactivity. He fell back against the settee when she pushed against his chest and went to work on his trousers then bent over to remove his shoes.
Smiling once more Hermione pulled on his clothes and he automatically lifted his hips when she did so. His cock sprang free of the confining cloth as the trousers and boxers left his body.
Hermione stood and looked down at him, running a hand down her chest before climbing on to his lap once more. She grasped his prick and slowly settled herself on top and slid down on him. She moaned softly and reached back to the tray and plucked an ice cube from the glass of pumpkin juice. She ran it across her lips then bent forward to kiss Draco, softly.
"That bit warmed you nicely. Wouldn't you like some more?" she asked softly as she pulled back from him and ran the ice over his lips this time. The cube was melting fast over their skin and she took the last little bit, popping it into her mouth before kissing him again and lifting her hips to thrust against the cock buried deep inside her.
Draco's eyes rolled back in his head and he was spurred into action by her thrusting. He grabbed her hips and moved with her a few times before tumbling them backwards onto the settee.
Her legs wrapped around his middle as the robe fell over them, covering them as he moved deeper in her with the new position. She arched up to him as he thrust and moaned softly, digging her nails into his back.
"Please… Draco…" she panted and leaned her head back exposing her throat once more. "Please…"
Draco whined and pounded into her as she begged him. He could feel her tightening around him as he plunged into her faster and harder. He reached up and ran a hand down her body, caressing the pink skin, lightly tweaking her hardened nipples and squeezing her breast.
Her brown eyes closed as she gave herself over to the sensations and Draco watched as she tumbled into a petit morte and clenched hard around his cock. He bent forward again and sank his teeth into her neck once more when she went limp in his arms.
Hermione's eyes opened wide and she smiled as he moved, thrusting into her and pulling the blood from her body at the same time. She sighed softly. "Thank you."
Draco sighed out his orgasm and continued to draw the life giving blood from the woman. He felt her heart slow beneath his hand and he eased out of her body with both his cock and teeth.
Hermione's eyes fluttered once more and she smiled at him. "Thank you." She said and closed her eyes again.
Draco stood and looked down at her as her chest heaved and then stopped. He gasped and shook her once more and she gasped. "No." He said and bit his own wrist, drawing the blood once more. He knelt and pressed the wound to her mouth.
Hermione struggled weakly under him, opening her eyes to glare at him as the blood began to flow into her mouth. She moaned and grabbed his wrist, sucking harder on the flow trying to quench the awful thirst he had created.
Draco grimaced and let her drink from him, returning the tainted blood to her once more, not stopping her as she began to drain him. He sighed and laid his head on her stomach as she fed, closing his silvery red rimmed eyes.
Hermione finally pushed his wrist away from her mouth and groaned. She curled around her stomach as a ache began and she glared at him. "What have you done to me?" She panted.
Draco's mouth curled into a grin and he sighed. "I couldn't let you die," he answered softly as he opened his eyes and looked up at her.
She pushed him from her lap and to the floor then gasped as she felt the life leave her body. She breathed one last breath and then was still, the light fading from her brown eyes.
Draco lie on the floor, panting. Hermione had taken too much and he was glad. He would die now finally, he closed his silver eyes and then was unceremoniously jerked up from the floor and shaken.
He opened his eyes and tried to focus on the angry naked witch holding him up by his robes.
"You stupid, stupid man. Wake-up!" She said and shook him again. "I swear to Merlin if you pass out before I can get any information out of you I will stake you myself and cut off your head."
Draco hissed and she flung him to the floor. He looked up at her and shook his head. "What are you on about? Leave me be… to die, Granger." He lay back down on the floor once more.
Hermione growled and jerked him up again. "Oh no you don't, Malfoy. You did this to me and now you are going to live with the consequences."
He groaned and shook his head. "Wanted to die… let you drain me."
Hermione shook her head. "You should have paid more attention in Defense against the Dark Arts, Draco." She slapped him across the face and his eyes snapped open, glaring at her.
"You won't die from being drained. You'll just get a headache." She smiled maliciously at him. "Now I'm still hungry and you will escort me out to find more to eat and you will feed as well."
She flung him to the ground once more and stalked over to get the robes she had discarded earlier. Dressing quickly, she laughed as he sat up and groaned, holding on to his head.
Hermione turned to look at him as she pulled the robes and straightened them. "Get up, Draco and dress. Daylight is coming and I want to be well sated and back before then." She swept from the room calling Missy's name and asking for a cloak.
Draco stared after her then muttered something about bossy women. He stood and summoned his clothes to him, dressing slowly, trying not to jostle his head too much. Once fastened up again he stood and sighed. "Why didn't you tell me about not being able to die from being drained?" He asked as she re-entered the room.
Hermione rolled her eyes. "If you had read all the way through the parchments you would have known." She shuffled through the parchments and held up the one she was looking for.
"To cure someone from the Veneficium curse, one needs to be drained of blood to the point of death and then left to slowly heal. Nourish the patient with Blood Replenishing potions and iron rich foods."
She looked at him and shook her head. "I knew you couldn't kill me but what I didn't know was that you were stupid enough to turn me." She walked over to him and threaded her arm through his. "Let's go, it's not good for a lady to be out after dark, by herself, in this day and age." She grinned and led him towards the door, flashing her fangs at him.
Draco groaned as she chattered and asked questions about their new life. He shook his head as he closed the door behind them, cursing himself for stopping and checking on the bundle of robes the night before.
The End
